Every website starts with the design and development phase. After sitting down with key players involved with your website, we will decide what direction to take. This phase of the process is critical in communicating expectations and goals of the website. Once everyone is on the same sheet of music, we can then begin to work on the design and overall feel of the site. A style guide will be created along with a logo (if not already done). Navigation structure and common design questions will be answered at this stage. Now that the design is complete, the development stage will take place. This stage is crucial because decisions made at this point will effect the long term management of the site. Such as scripting, style sheets, templating, database, and other techniques will be discussed and implemented at this point. Usability will also be tested at this point. We want to make sure that the site is easy to navigate and visitors have a comfortable and friendly experience that will make them want to return. Now that the design and the development of the site is complete, content will start to be added and then each page will be tested for browser compatibility and accessibility compliance (if applicable). Once the initial content is added, an overall Quality Assurance check will be complete before the first publishing to the live web server. This is just a basic overview of the Design and Development process. A more detailed plan will be tailored to meet each website's need. |
